What is a wooden ferns?
Wooden ferns is a type of ferns in the family Dryopteris, which grows in mild forests in the northern hemisphere. There are more than 150 known types of dryopteris ferns and many of them come from the United States, Europe and China. Dryopteris ferns are also called wooden ferns, male ferns, ferns or ferns. Many species of ferns are considered wooden ferns, but these species have many common things, such as the shape of their leaves or a growing environment. Wooden ferns are commonly grown as an ornamental plant and is popular in a suspended pot or as a home plant, because wooden ferns flourish in a weak light. Wooden ferns generally prefer damp soil and can tolerate low temperatures.
While different species differ in size, leaves and hardness shape, most wooden ferns have a similar look. Green leaves can grow anywhere from 2 feet (about 65 cm) to 5 feet (about 1.5 m). The leaves grow along the stems of the leaves, wider on the base of the leaf andDyhu reaches the tip of the leaf to form a blade -shaped leaf. Most of the leaves of wooden ferns have serrated edges, although they may vary in size and color depending on the species.
wooden ferns naturally grow on the forest bottom, where the soil is rich in decomposing plant mass and the plant is shaded by tall trees. Dryopteris ferns are originally from mild forests where the air is moist and cold. When growing ferns dryopteris, the gardener should try to correspond to the native environment of the plant to flourish. In the case of wooden ferns, this means planting in rich humid soil in a shady place with high humidity. Some types of wooden ferns can tolerate drought better than others, so the gardener should always examine the types of ferns before buying.
As a house plant, wood ferns should be planted in a soil that has a high peat content. Keep the pot in the NEPRome Light. Ferms like moisture, but may suffer from root rot or other problems if overloaded. Make sure the ferns are planted in pots with sufficient drain to keep the soil wet but not wet. Ferries can be connected daily if the soil is deleted sufficiently. If the humidity surrounds the plant, the ferns may be fogged once a week, but they should not be too often headed because the mold can grow on fine leaves.
