What is acorus?

Acorus is a genus of plants that is part of the Acoraceae family. It consists of several flowering Monocot (simple seeds) plants that come from the southeastern United States and the northern and eastern part of Asia. Most species in the genus Acorus have tall grass similar to the leaves that surround Spadix, a fleshy tip covered with small clusters of flowers. Some species in the genus, including Acorus calamus, have been grown for hundreds of years for their healing use, especially for eye problems. In fact, it is assumed that the name "acorus" is derived from the Greek word Coreon concerning the pupil of the eye. Both have a padix, which is 1.5 to 4.0 inch (4-10 cm) and leaves that grow to 5 feet (about 1.5 m) in Length. Most species have green leaves with cream colors and aromatic aroma. The chemicals responsible for the fragrance of the leaves is Asarone, which is the ether that is considered toxic to pests.

Most plants in the genus ACOrus grows near shallow water bodies in wetlands and marshes. Bugs of streams and lakes provide adequate conditions for this genus. Usually it requires extremely moist soil and full sunlight to produce living leaves. If it is properly designed, this genus can grow in the aquarium. Usually smaller varieties of acor are grown in water containers, while larger varieties are usually planted on the edge of the pool or in the swamp garden.

Because abundant amounts of water are required in the acor, there is an increased risk of fungal infection. In particular, the root rot can cause Sevezn's damage to the race. It is usually caused by a sponge that multiplies and spreads in cold humid soil. The fungus usually attacks the root hairs, which prevents the absorption of nutrients from the soil. As a result, the leaves will not be perishable and eventually drop.

Another fungal infection that focuses on this genus of plants is rust. The plant rust is characterized by red -brown spots and bumps that develop on leaves and stems. NThe best way to treat fungal infection is to remove patients and apply fungicide.
