What is a ditch?
Ant The ditch prevents ants from crossing the ants to the surface, most often used on the hummingbird to keep the insects off sugar water, where the birds feed on. There are different types of trenches of ants and each of them is effective in their work. Ant ditch can be decorated in design to disguise its function and add beauty to the garden and feeders, otherwise the ant may be home.
Ant ditches available from retailers offer a capricious design associated with functions. One popular ant is small, a metal -covered powder, an inverted parasol that can be filled with water. The parasol handle ends with a hook for hanging, while the bottom of the parasol also has a hook for connecting the bird feeder. The ants will feel sugar water and start after the parasol handle to meet the moat. There are several variations on this design, but the basic idea is the same. The ditch sits between the hook and the feeder and blocks the passage to the feeder.
for unwinding feeders of hummingbirds that are attachedThey are for a grounded column, there is another type of any ditch. This ant is in the shape of a cup with a central brick hole to allow the ground column to pass. The cup is formed by the ant around the column and as soon as it is filled with water, it blocks the passage to the upper end of the column where the feeder connects.
The water trench filled with water is 100% efficient if the water must not evaporate. Birds also enjoy beverages from trenches of ants, so do not add insecticides or harmful chemicals to the water. You will not need it for your moat anyway, because the water itself will prevent ants from entering the ditch.
As an alternative, some people prefer to blur the inner ditch with an an a string of oil, such as petrolatum, rather than fill it with water. Ants voluntarily do not pass through certain substances, so petrolatum works just like vodamrava from exceeding the ditch. This has another advantage to take longer than water, toThe tears will have to be regularly complemented - easy work, but the one you could forget from time to time.
The jelly petroleum has another advantage over the water filled with ants-you can liberally blur it at the bottom of the ground column or on the hook of the suspended feeder and keep the ant at bay without the need for an official ditch. Just check it occasionally and add it if necessary. Do not bother the oil jelly on the feeder itself, or it could contaminate the birds that feed there.
Whether you choose a beautifully designed ant or simple oil jelly solution, you can easily keep ants at bay without using chemicals or sprays. You can look at some Ant ditches that are available anywhere where birds feeders are sold over the decision that you prefer.
