What is arborvitae?

arborvitae is a common name of a genus consisting of coniferous trees, also known as thujas . The genus consists of five different types of arborvitae, two in North America and three in East Asia. Some of these species are called cedar, but because they are not true cedar, they are more precisely called red cedar or white cedar. Five types of arborvitae are Korean Thuja, northern white cedar, western red cedar, Japanese Thuja and Sichuan Thuja.

Arborvitae are evergreen, which means that their leaves remain green all year round. They can grow between 10 and 60 meters (32-196 feet) high and have a stringed brown red bark. Adult Arborvitae has flat leaves similar to a scale that grow between one and ten millimeters. Younger seedlings have needle leaves, similar to pine. Their cones can grow between one and two centimeters long after six to eight months, with six to twelve scales, each deposits between one and two seeds.

Pollen skittersGo between two and six pairs of pollen bags called sporophyls . The seed cones are between 9 and 14 millimeters (0.3 to 0.5 inches) long, are ellipsoid and ripen during the first year of growth. Only the central cone scales are fertile and these scales can produce between one and three seeds. The seeds are produced by two Kotyledons and are in the shape of a cone. The seeds also have wings that catch the wind and can send them long distances.

All types of arborvitae are primary food sources for larvae and leaf minerals. High deer populations can be harmful to the growing cycle of young arborvitae. It is known that they remove seedlings of bare leaves, which usually leads to the death of a tree.

The arborvitae oil contains terpene called Thujone. Thujone is a potentially fatal aminomous acid that damages nerves and can cause mortgagertonia affected muscles. Arborvitae are bEventually grown decoratively as trees and in the form of hedges. The Thuja Japanese Hybrid and the western red cedar, called Thuja "Green Gigant", is particularly adept as a hedge and can grow up to 80 centimeters (31.5 inches) per year.

Arborvitae wood is soft, light and very aromatic. It is particularly resistant to rot and can be easily divided. Western red cedar wood is often used to produce guitar audio boards. They are known for chest formation that are resistant to bridges, as well as for the production of fence contributions.
