What is Islamic Abaya?
Islamic abaya is a type of long clothing, often black, which wears women in some Muslim countries. Abaya covers the whole body and leaves only the face, hands and legs. Islamic Abaya is one of a number of different clothing worn as a result of Islamic rules on female dresses.
The name "Abaya" comes from an Arabic word, which means "cloak". The plural is abayat . There are several different types of Islamic Abayat. Some are simple, loose garments overded over the body from the top of the head, while others are long coats with sleeves.
Although the popular image of a woman wearing Islamic Abaya includes a veil covering the face, the veil is not technically part of Abaya itself. It is a separate clothing called niqab . Some women wear Abaya with niqab, others without.
abayat are usually made of light fabrics. This allows them to wear other clothes in hot climate. Although they are ordinary black, it is also common to see abayat decoratedembroidery or other contrast images.
Koran, Islamic Holy Book, connects the wives of the Prophet Muhammad and other women to cover in public or around men with whom they are not relatives. The HADADH or statements of the prophet also contain passages on the requirement for women to wear clothing that cover their bodies. The exact range of Awrah or the area that must be covered is the subject of some debate between Islamic scholars, and different communities attribute to different views.
Muslim cultures around the world have responded to this requirement in several different ways. Islamic Abaya is only one of these different forms of female dresses. Other common elements of clothes for Muslim women include head scarves that cover hair and also long, free garments. Sommuslim women do not decide to adhere to the strict dressing rules; Again, it differs between countries.

This type of clothing is known under many names. In Iran there is a term for clothing that covers the whole body, Chador , while similar clothing is called Burqa in Muslim communities of South Asian countries such as Afghanistan.
