What is Osman?
The word Osman can mean a number of things. It can refer to anything about the Ottoman Empire, can be used to describe the Turkish man of a certain tribe and may also indicate the type of substance. For our purposes, however, we will focus on the most used definition of the term today: the type of furniture. In fact, in some parts of the world, the terms "divan" and "Ottoman" are still interchangeable. The wild furniture style was popularly used in the Chambers of the Middle East of the government agency called Diwan, from which it was named. Divan was popularized in Europe in the 18th century.
Nowadays, however, especially in North America, when we are talking about Ottomu, one usually speaks of a low, rectangular foot, usually upholstered, which can double as another sitting or occasional table. The emergence of a smaller, minimalist "divan" piece of furniture is generally considered to be the western development of the effects of eastern furniture on European society, which is inThe 18th century became a somewhat trend. Ottoman, at least, as we know today, is not considered invented by the Ottoman Turks, but was so called in respect of its exotic roots. In fact, Osman's most resembles Moroccan (North African) Pouf, a thick pillow used as a seat.
Modern Otomans can be found in almost every furniture store, in different sizes, shapes, materials and price ranges. Osmans can also be hollow and can be used as chest for storage. Covered leather, silk, canvas or cotton have become the foundation in most fashion houses.
