What is Baha'i?

Baha'i faith is a relatively new religion. At the end of the 19th century it was founded by Bahá'u'llah, a self -proclaimed prophet. The current government body of faith Baha'i is in Haifa, Israel. Less than six million people around the world are practicing Baha'i with the largest concentrations of followers in India (2.2 million) and Iran (350,000).

The Baha's Basic Faith is Unity all over the world that includes the harmony of religion, society and humanity itself. Baha'is believes in a single, almighty God who has many manifestations, resulting in many established religions in the world. Although each religion has a different concept of God, faith Baha'i maintains it mainly with cultural differences. For Baha'is, God is one and all the main religions in the world are the only faith.

Baha'i Faith focuses on social and ethical issues such as equality of women and men, eliminating all the foremits, the need for universal compulsory education and the elimination of extremes of wealth and poverty. The mystical teachings of the faith Baha'i are foundedWomen to gain useful virtues and spiritual development that in turn help progress of civilization. While a text study and prayer are part of the faith Baha'i, performing useful work in everyday life is considered a higher form of worship.

According to Baha'i's teaching, begging and asceticism, they are forbidden. Gambling, drinks and gossip should also be avoided. While Baha'i faith teaches that sexual expression is only acceptable in the marriage of men and women, openly homosexual people are not prevented from entering religion. In general, Baha'is will not be involved in the private life of other members and privacy is highly respected. While in the faith of Baha'i there is no mentioned clergy, the practicers choose their own nine -member spiritual gatherings to control the matters of faith at local and national levels. Baha'is are persecuted in Islamic countries, especially in Iran, which caused the UN Commission for Human Rights to issue a declaredAny, which expresses concerns about the safety of Baha'i Faith members around the world.
