What is Byzantine poetry?
Byzantine poetry is any poetry written in the Byzantine Empire, from its beginning at 330 A.D. after the fall of Constantinople in 1453. In these eleven centuries, many sacred and secular poems were composed by various authors. Hymnas, epigrams, Panegyics and satires were some of the most popular forms of poetry in the Byzantine Empire.
The anthem is a religious poem intended. During the 5th century, Romanos wrote about 1000 anthem. Its anthems are characterized by their extreme length and dramatic nature and antipal singing and dialogue combines and tells specific biblical stories. Romanos was among the first Greek poets to use stress accents to achieve a rhythm, rather than short and long syllables characteristic of classical Greek poetry. This formal type of poetry is usually composed of approximately nine anthem or singing, each of which has at least three ceilings. Thedva's most famous canon poets in Byzantine poetry are Andrew of Crete and John of Damascus.

Georgius Pisides and Theodorus Stutists wrote epigrams concerning Christianity and life in the monastery, while Agathias wrote excessively decorated with observations of life and people. Some Byzantine writers, such as Joannes Geometres, composed free epigrams on both saints and ancient Greek philosophers.
Byzantine poetry also contains several satire works, including an anonymous work called Timarion and Mazaris' to Hades , Mazari. Both poems concern an unexpected visiting the protagonist in the underworld, where the ruling class is lampooned and some ethnic groups are ridiculed. Other satires have speaking animals verbally abusing clergy and government.
Panegyrics is the opposite of satires. Panegyricje official, formal poem, for the praise of the emperor. In 562 A.D., Paulus Sitialiarius composed the famous Panegyric for the Emperor, Justinian I, after the completion of Hagia Sophia, Greek PravoslAvná Basilica in Constantinople.
begging poems are a form of Byzantine poetry in which the poet complains and asks the reader for help. Wives, food and other writers are all common topics. The most famous begging of the poem is "Ptochoprodomos" that Theodore Prodomos could write.
In the 13th century poetry showed many influences of traders and attackers from Western Europe. Chiva romances, such as Kallimachos and chrysorrhoe , were very popular. One heroic epic of the Byzantine Empire, digenis acritas , was probably written at about the same time, although it concerns earlier conflicts.
