What is Calycanthus?

Calycanthus is a genus of plants that is part of the Calycanthanthaceae family. It contains several types of deciduous shrubs that come from North America. Plants are equipped with unique flowers that have petals similar to strap and aromatic leaves. Landscapes use this group of plants as a fence shrub or as a background for a permanent garden. Some varieties in this family are susceptible to fungal diseases. Plants in this family are usually called all spice or sweetshrub. Some species have variations of common name.
