What is Campsis?
Campsis is a genus of two species of plants in the family Bignoniaceae or Bignonia. These plants are guilty and are known for their large trumpet flowers. Both species form very large grapes and are grown garden for their flowers, large semi -pods and distinctive leaves. Trumpet Creeper or Trumpet Vine - or Campsis Radicans - which is originally from the United States, can be an aggressive weed that can tear off the siding from the house. It can also attack the field of corn and soybean, which significantly reduces yields. It is originally from Asia. This species is less hardy than the American trumpet vines that can rise at temperatures up to -30 ° F (-34 ° C). Chinese wine vines can grow to 30 feet (9 m) under ideal conditions. Sometimes it is grown preferably on Campsis Radicans, because Asian vines have larger flowers that are reddish colors.
Trumpet is not treated soil if it is not constantly wet. In many parts of the United States and South Canada, the plant is tolerantdrought. In desert areas, however, it needs some complementary water. This vine requires a full sun or will not bloom well.
Campsis Radicans produces 2-3 inches (5-7.5 cm), trumpet-shaped flowers, which are generally clearly orange. Hybrids have been developed that produce red or yellow flowers. Plants begin to bloom after the weather, which has been permanently warm for several months, usually in early summer and blooms throughout the season. It is also produced highly noticeable, large, long, pointed seedpods. 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.5 cm) long, deciduous leaves are dark green with 7 to 15 leaflets and range from ½ to 1.25 to 3.75 cm) wide.
Wine trumpet can grow to 35 feet (10.5 m) long. Produces the tendrils to help him climb. If there is no support that could climb, the vines will grow above the landscape as a ground cover. The stems will take root anywhere they will touch the ground. GrateLiny also develops suction cups.
It can be very difficult to eradicate the trumpet vines from the yard as soon as it was set. It can grow through trees and houses and can attract ants. The best place for growth is in a container or on a gazebo or grid. It should be difficult to cut.
This kind of camp can be a problem of weeds in agricultural areas of crops such as corn or soybeans. This is especially a problem in producing ne-till , where agricultural practices do not include soil cultivation. The attack can be very minimized when the soil is cultivated and then used herbicides.
Trumpet may be an attractive vine for landscaping if it is aware of its shortcomings. Measures must be taken against its spread. If it is done correctly, the gardener can have a FLO shape of Trumpetywers without bounce off aggressive weeds. One of the advantages of this wine vine is that it attracts hummingbirds.
