What is the carpet?
Carpetball is a simple recreational game that is played with billiard balls, also called pool balls and a specialized table. Like the billiards, it is played by slipping the balls across the table and by knocking the opponent's ball from the other end of the table. Popular among families and youth groups, this game can play people of any age. It is a game without official instructions, so it can be played with many different rules. It is assumed that the carpet began during the 70th years in the Midwest United States.
Table
Thecarpet table is often 12 feet (3.7 m) long, 2.5 feet (0.76 m) wide and 3 feet (0.9 m) high, although not official size. The table has short edges surrounding the table, just slightly higher than the balls to keep the balls in the game. The rest of the table surface is a carpet like felt, and has a pit at each end of the table that is large enough to capture the balls. The rug can be home or can be converted from a billiard.
Game playing
The game is lowered by five pool balls set on each side of the table. Usually one on one or two is played on two, each team standing on the opposite sides of the table. The teams take turns to move one ball down from the table at once, trying to knock the balls of the other team from the table and into the pit. The balls that are knocked down from the table, but not in the pit, are placed back in the game.
When all the balls of one team were knocked into a pit, this team gets one "Mercy shot" to try to tie the game. If a shot of mercy fails, the second team will win. When Shot Shot succeeds and the game is tied, the tiebreaker - or overtime - is held with one ball that is played to the side until the game is decided without a tie. After the game, teams can be mixed or other people can be played. Some groups allow winning players or teams to continue playing against new challenges.
strategy
A certain strategy is involved on the carpet. The first strategic decisions include a selection where the balls are placed during the settings. All team balls must be placed in the length of the arm from the table table. The choice that from the opponent's balls to the target with every shot is also part of the strategy.
Skills
Many people consider carpetball games that usually take just a few minutes, as good for family parties. Young players can teach coordination with hands and skills and motor skills and can provide entertaining ways for older or disabled people to compete. Size, strength and athleticism do not determine carpets' skills, which allows people to people of all age groups, sizes and physical ability to compete against each other. Instead, most carpet players emphasize a fun and friendly, well -born competition.
