What is emo?

EMO is a genre of rock music that seems to fall somewhere between Goth and Grunge on the post-punk rock spectrum. Although there is a significant amount of disagreement on this topic, this term is short for "emotional punk", the successor of a direct punk rock dating back to the late 80's. Other sources say it is short for "Emocore", emotionally charged form of SoftCore Punk, which began in Washington in the DC area in the mid -80s. EMO music is definitely derived from anarchic punk sound, but is often described as a lining of the sound of grunge in Seattle.

To understand EMO, it can help start from the beginning. First there was a hardcore punk, an anarchic and energy form of music that provided an alternative to Disco and strongly produced pop music in the early 80s. In the mid -80s, however, many of the hardcore punk bands dissolved or changed instructions. This left a very large hole of local hardcore or alternative bands to fill. Some bands developedThe sharper style of playing the same three chords as the original punk, but with the addition of philosophical or anxious texts sung in emotional style than equal punk rock. This became known as an emotional punk.

While EMO worked from Washington, DC Area Westward, other groups in Seattle were basically the same music territory. These bands became popular in the San Francisco Bay Area area at about the same time when the Grunge Rock Bands took over the music scene in Seattle. While grunge rock artists and fans received a rough, unmanned picture, emo artists and their fans often wore heavy eye make -up, stained their hair on the hair black and accepted the metrosexual appearance. In the end, genres were uncomfortable in the records of records and publications in the music industry.

While Grungeemo bands enjoyed a short but unforgettable period on pop charts, they tried to stay very hard not to stay notcommercial. This aversion to all commercial things is a characteristic feature of the EMO music scene. Albums are often recorded on cheap vinyl LPS using a vintage or second -hand recording device. EMO musicians use pipe amplifiers and cheap guitars, not solid amplifiers or deceived modern electric guitars. The artists are known to extend extended jam sitting ending with real emotional explosions such as sobbing or initial screaming on stage. Fans of the genre appreciate the honesty and rawness of the emotional performances of the bands.

There are several EMO bands that have found commercial success such as Jimmy Eat World, Fall Out Boy or Dashboard Confessional, but the number of fans considers these bands to be the corporate versions of the EMO music scene. Many of the most influential bands have never made it from their small native cities and the life of the average is rarely more than two or three years. EMO Music scene is seen as justified heir of hardcore punk heritage, although many chapEl includes several guitar arpeggios and sensitive texts into direct high -speed chord crushes of the original punk genre.
