What is Fargesia?
Fargesia is a non -invasive, clustering type of bamboo originating from the Alpine forests of southern and southwest China. It is also known as Bambus umbrella, dragon head bamboo, green panda and bamboo fountain. Fargesia has average small to middle half (about 1.27 cm) and dark green leaves. It is often used in landscaping as a hedge, screen or decorative plant. Fargesie is a low-hard-hard-to-life bamboo that resists many diseases and pests. The flowering occurs about every 100 years, after which the plant will die. Depending on the cultivar, the full height of Fargesia may be 6-20 feet (about 1.8-6.1 m) and its spread of 4-15 feet (about 1.2-4.6 m). Within one day it can grow up to three feet (0.9 m) and reaches a maximum height in about two months. Fargesia prefers filtered sunlight, fertile, well -drained soil with neutral pH levels. Fargesia works especially well in small areas where a dramatic focus is required. This plant tends to have exclusion or crying umbrellaA similar appearance that is quite different from the usual straight screen or hedge. Individuals who prefer a straight screen can trim the peaks up to 50%. This removes part of the weight and allows the bamboo to spring back to the upright position.
Fargesia is best done in colder areas and can tolerate temperatures by up to -25 degrees Fahrenheit (-32 degrees Celsius). It was known to grow at an altitude of up to 10,000 feet (about 2048 m). It is used at the Ministry of Agriculture of the United States of four to ten. It does not do well in hot or humid conditions.
The race maintenance is Fairly simple. From the end of spring to autumn it requires water two to four times a week. Nitrogen -rich fertilizer should be applied once at the beginning of spring and once in the middle of summer. Pruning CULMS is not necessary, but it does not hurt the plant.
Fargesia is sensitive to aphids, sooty moldand mite oriental cane. Conventional pesticides can work on aphids and solitary forms, but are not very effective against oriental cane mites. Reducing infested plants and burning cuttings is one of the only alternatives to permanently get rid of the mite.
