What is a furry fandom?
furry fandom is a subculture of human society that focuses on the pleasure of anthropomorphic animals, animals that have human qualities such as the ability to speak or walk on two legs. Depending on their level of involvement in the furry community, the members can simply appreciate the visual and written media with anthropomorphic animals in it, or can add to the body of the material containing such animals through writing, drawing or creating other works of art. Someone who identifies with a furry fandom is called a furry fan , or simply hairy .
The roots of the hairy fandom are quite old, but most people refer to a modern movement that began at the age of 80 when they talk about furries. The idea of animals with characteristics is ancient, with many religions and mythological traditions, including the stories of animals that behaved or communicated with people. Children's cartoons often included furries in various forms, as well asChildren's literature.
At the beginning of the 80s, an adult community began to appreciate such art and began to be called a furry fandom. Members of the community can identify with animals, simply appreciate art with animals, or enjoy a fantasy genre. The rich and lively adult community, who was interested in cartoons and funny animals, led to a wide range of adult arts, from stories representing animals focused on a more mature audience to explicit fiction and art.
Some Furries participate in the annual conventions that are designed to celebrate furry fandom. Participants can buy or exchange comics, films, stories, books and work of art with other members of their community and participate in interactive activities. Some Furries dress for an opportunity in Fursuits that may resemble mythical or real animals. Furry Fandom also has a living onlinecomunity, with FUrries participating in websites and newsletters devoted to their interests.
As is often the case with subculture, many people connect extremists with all furries. Some people in the furry community are sexualizing furries or engaging in deviant sexual practices that are not directly related to the hairy community. Since many people consider these members of the subculture particularly interesting or Oteworthy, many furria find themselves with these individuals. This led to the controversy in the movement because Furries who are not interested in explicit material or deviant sexuality sometimes hate this small percentage of their social group.
