What is Galium?
Galium is a family of plants in the Rubiaceae family. It consists of more than 600 species, plants galium can be found in most parts of the world. Some species in this family are considered weeds, others are used for dyes or herbal medicines and some are used in horticulture. Usually, high straight stems have several feet high with faith or circular patterns of long thin leaves. Their white or yellow flowers are generally small and grouped. Mostly annual, some species are biennial. Many types of galium are commonly called Bedstraw.
also called catchweed Bedstraw, Goose Grass or Stickywilly, Galium Aparine is considered a plant of pests in most North America. Catchweed Bedstraw moves in all counts of Continental Units, most of the provinces of Canada, some Mexico and is very common on Alaska. It usually grows best to disturbed or sophisticated and often occurs between crops. Small fruit is also barbed and easily holds the roundears. Handling this species can sometimes cause an allergic reaction or skin irritation. Overall, apparin is not considered to be an attractive plant and planting seeds are actually banned in several states of New England.
Galium verum , also called Yellow Bedstraw or Bedstraw Bedstraw in England, came from Europe, but is now also located in North America. Sometimes it is used to produce yellow or red dye, in the Middle Ages it was also stuffed into mattresses to improve their scent.
