What is half hesitation?

Half-Mourning is a traditional third part of sadness in the Victorian era. Ordinary black clothing associated with the first phase of sadness and black clothing with lining worn in the second period was replaced by half hesitation of clothing in shades of purple and gray. White was also acceptable in this late stage of sadness.

In England, the nineteenth century lasted the first sad period or full mourning for one year and one day. The second phase of sadness was nine months long and the half -hesitation period was three to six months. The idea of relaxing to the incredibility was emphasized by moving from dark clothes and a veil for widows to a dark dress with decorative trim to new, lighter colors of clothing. The black sad dress fabric should not have been shiny. Black dress was still worn in the second phase of sadness, but the cutting on the dress was allowed, as well as sad jewelry. Colors of purple worn in half the bindings could be lilac or any purple shadow. Darker gray were also often worn but light gray and white wasalso acceptable.

Fashionable mourning clothing was designed in Paris and sold in department stores so that women can look fashionable and at the same time wearing expected colors and styles. These appearances were for Victorian women who had money to buy them. Those women who could not afford to buy mourning clothes from department stores often had to buy them from burial salons when they arranged a coffin and funeral.

Sometimes women stain their clothes suitable colors for half hesitation. Until their dress was too low in the neckline and it was a suitable length that would work well for half hesitation when the shadow of purple or gray were stained. Women could enjoy their common jewelry again in this last phase of sadness, but they could not wear jewelry in the first phase of sadness and should have only special sad jewelry in the second phase. .
