What is Hibiscus Moscheutos?
Hibiscus Moscheutos, also known as Rose Mallow or Swamp-Rose Mallow, is a member of the Flowering Plants Malvaceae. Cold and permanent, it is a subspecies of Hibiscus originating from North America. Floral colors range from white to dark pink, with a characteristic dark red, chestnut or Burgundy center. Due to the dark red center of most of its flowers, the plant is sometimes referred to as a crimson rose. The size and structure regulate the plant to be categorized as a subshrub. Of all the perennials, this species has the largest flower, with some cultivars reaching the width of flowers of more than 9 inches (23 cm). The colors and shapes of the leaves range from medium green heart shapes to deep glossy green with shape similar to maple leaves. The spread of plants usually average approximately 3 feet (1 meter) flowers usually appear in late june or early July and remaining in full flowering until the end of August.
