What is ichthyology?

ichthyology, subgroup of zoology, is a fish study. Zoology is a branch of biology and ichthyology includes many elements of biology in their studies. When people refer to fish studying, grammar can be noted as incorrect. This is right because more fish species are referred to as fish.

Modern ichthyology began in the 18th century with the work of Peter Andreti and Carl Linnaeus. Together they gathered all previously written data on types of fish and set up a way to order fish species, family, family and kingdom. Today, according to this system, about 25,000 known species of fish are classified. Ichthyology is a dynamic field with about 100-200 new fish discoveries every year. Aristotle classified several hundred fish species. Less formal ichthyology was practiced by Early Hunter-Gatherrer. Understanding, where and when and when it is likely to show that fish will be allowed for better food opportunities. Even other animals are informally practicing ichthyology. Grizzly MWell know when and where to catch salmon, which is an important part of their diet. Ichthyology is a companion of other areas such as ecology, marine biology, oceanography and climatology, because fish information can lead to greater environmental understanding or other species of plants and animals.

The field of ichthyology is important due to the huge number of fish species on the ground. Given that ichthyology helps other disciplines, it greatly contributes to understanding all forms of life on the planet, the past and the present. The collected data on extinct or prehistoric types of fish contribute to greater knowledge in evolutionary biology and geography. Fish are primary food sources for many birds and mammals, including humans, which means understanding their behavior, populations and biological components, informs scientists about the relationship between animals, fish and the environment.

ichthyological experts MOHOU to work in different fields. They could work in natural history and continue to contribute to the sum of fish knowledge. The ichthyologist can conduct field studies on fish behavior or populations, oversee fishing, study fish at molecular level or focus on protection studies. Courses in ichthyology bring ichthyologists to teaching at universities and ichthyologists supervise most of the aquariums around the world.

students with a bachelor's degree of zoology or biology often follow postgraduate study in ichthyology to work on better and usually higher paying positions. Postgraduate studio programs of ichthyology may vary in harmony to the focus of every university. Ichthyologists often recommend students to carefully examine programs and apply to those that most correspond to their areas of interest. A nascent student of ichthyology, who wants to study fish from an environmental point of view, does not have to be satisfied with a school emphasizing molecular biology of fish.
