What is Leucospermum?

Leucospermum, also known as its common name Pincushion, is the name of the family for 47 different types of evergreen shrubs. Most species come from South Africa or Zimbabwe and can be found in various habitats such as slopes on the slope, mild forests and subtropical coastal dunes. The leaves are leather and usually copier or teaspoons. They also have thick clusters of colorful flowers that resemble levels. Depending on the species, shrubs in the genus Leucospermum can grow anywhere from about 2 feet (0.61 m) to 16 feet (4.88 m) high.

The kind that falls into the genus Leucospermum is difficult to grow, but if they are successfully grown, they can be quite beautiful. Flowers similar to needles are often cut and used in floral arrangements. They usually bloom at the end of winter and in the first months of spring, and as soon as they are cut, they can live in the weight of water for about one month. Flowers are compreisted from large groups of long thin tubes, similar to thistle flower. Depending on the type of leucospermum, flowers can beFind in a wide range of colors such as white, yellow, pink, orange and red.

Generally leucospermum prefers growth in a slight climate. So, when the temperature drops below approximately 41 degrees Fahrenheit (5 degrees Celsius), the bushes should move to a slight or cold greenhouse. Once it moves inside, it can be best planted in a mixture of soil watering, perlite and peat. In addition, it should receive full light and a magnesium for fertilizer for maximum growth.

If it is grown in areas where the weather is slight throughout the year, it can remain outside. In these cases, this should be in soil that is well drained and has low nitrate and phosphate levels. In addition, it should usually be planted in the area receives full sunlight. Thanks to its beautiful flower, if it is grown outdoors, many successful gardeners prefer to grow leucospermum along the borders of their property or ZHorder.

As evergreen shrubs, leucospermum requires a slight amount of water. In addition, they are susceptible to some diseases such as root rot and gray form. As a result, gardeners must pay attention to the pH levels in the soil and ensure that the soil runs effectively. Gardener can also try to cut most types of leucospermum, especially to shape the shrub and remove dead flowers.
