What is Lomandra?

Lomandra is a permanent herb similar to grass that comes from most parts of Australia. This was once considered part of the Xanthorrhoaceae family or Black Boy. In recent years, however, Lomandra has received its own family, Lomandraceae. Sometimes there is also a place in the Laxmanniaceae family when combined with the Cordyline plant.

Lomandra plant usually grows from 3 to 4 feet (91.44 to 121.92 cm) to height and has long, narrow, green, spears shaped leaves that grow from the central base. It produces tiny scented yellow to yellowish flowers that grow in tight clusters on high spikes. It is assumed that the smell of flowers smells like pineapple. The name Lomandra comes from the Greek words quarry and Andros , which translates to the edge and man. This name is in fact a reference to the circular edge of the anthowes of plants.

When using landscaping, Mat Rush is often considered to be a more common name for Lomandra. These plants were named the matrix of the rush because the nativesIn Australia, they once used leaves from plants to tissue mats. Lomandra Longfolia Breeze or the dwarf matrix rush is often the most popular species that appears in the landscaping because of its unique appearance and more compact growth habits. Sometimes it is also called rush Longleaf Mat.

Because matrix rush is very resistant to drought, it is often recommended for use in xeriscaping, as it can survive for a long time without additional water. It prefers a bright shadow, but will tolerate a full sun and can grow in almost any kind of land. During the period of small rain the plant usually does not die. Instead, it simply stops growing to save its energy until the water condition improves.

Although the plants will initially look somewhat unsightly, the lomandra can be limited to size to small compact hills, which are only 6 inches (about 15.2 cm). This trimming is usually done toRemoving older leaves and cleaning the overall appearance of plants when they are older, because sometimes they sometimes take a slightly plene appearance when they are aging. When the Lomandra is cropped back, she usually recovers quite quickly. The new growth germs are relatively fast and are based on just three weeks.
