What is Millifiori?
Millifiori means "a thousand flowers" in Italian and is the name of a given type of moon glass filled with floral patterns. Murano Glass is an ancient Venetian glass, which is named from the old area of glass production in Italy. Millifiori technique is often used for the production of beads and jewelry. The rods consist of pieces of molten glass in a wide range of colors. Small colors often form many floral patterns in a glass, and therefore the process is known as "thousand flowers". The patterned glass is then inserted into molds to form another layer of glass.
Two glass manufacturers pull out glass as they walk in the opposite directions. The pulled glass forms a long rod. After cooling, the glass rod is cut so that the formula is displayed through each cut. Every piece of Millefiori Murano is called Murrine.
Murrines will be placed and heated to make the pendants of jewelry and other objects. Murrine pendants were not made until 1968, when it was a form for many Millifiori pendants aso are crosses, hearts and circles, used copper ring. Murrine Millifiori pendants are polished to strengthen their detailed beauty.
Today, the Millifiori technique is also used with polymer clay to create jewelry beads. Traditional glass beads Murano, often called Italian Millifiori beads, are also popular for modern jewelry production. Both types of patterned beads tend to look as if small flowers and other details were painted on them, but this is not because the traditional Millefiori method is used. When it comes to polymer clay, the appearance of Millifiori is created using rods of multicolored clay called Canes . The sticks are located longitudinally in a roll of clay and then the clay roll is cut to show pattern.
Millifiori is also located in many artistic glass objects such as vases. There are also small shades of lamps and small bowls. Some artistThey also combine Glass Murano techniques with mouth techniques in the mouth and create unique works of art with Millefiori pattern.
