What is Molinia?
Molinia is a family that belongs to the Poaceae family and the tribe gratioleae. There are two types of deciduous grasses in this family. The type molinia caerulea is commonly called Purple Moor Grass, while the type molinia arundinacea is known as the high Moor grass. These grasses grow mainly in Europe and Asia and are commonly used as decorative garden plants.
