What is paramecium?

paramecium is a unicellular organism belonging to Kingdom Protist, so it is not exactly a plant or animal. The organism can spend food, move water by driving a cilia and reproducing. As one of the oldest organisms on Earth has developed and developed very simple methods of defense, genetic exchange and mobility.

There are several different types of parameters, but all are ciliate protozoa. This means that they use a cilia for swimming with water and one complex cell, eukaryote, performs all basic functions of the organism. It does not divide the work between different tissues or cells like an animal. Instead, each paramecium is capable of aerobic exchange, similar to breathing, to reproduce, ingest nutrients and eliminate waste.

Physical appearance

With good vision, it is possible to recognize the stain of the parameter because they are about 0.02 inches (0.5 mm) long. A suction conditions are better viewed, where you can see a slip or a kidney -shaped cell. Likes on the outside of the membrane small and bIts hair called cilia. Cilia moves in conjunction, like a line of oar on a ship to move paramecium over liquid. Eukaryote is even smart enough to navigate around obstacles and to eat.

6 Previously, there is a small opening like a mouth. It is lined with other cilia, which helps to "swallow" pieces of organic or decaying matter that eats, such as other unicellular organisms or bacteria. The food will continue down the gullet to place it in food vacuoles until the cell needs energy.

It may also be possible to recognize other rounded structures called organelles, which is a type of function as organs of the animal. One such organelle is contractile vacuoles. Paramecium must maintain an osmotic equilibrium, which means that the water pressure outside its skin and inside the body must be straight at all times. Contactile vacuoles pass through the water from the inside the cells out and vice versa.

SUPPLY

In most circumstances, paramecia is reproduced by division into the center and putting each new half of the organism organelle. This is called binary cleavage and is a simple form of asexual reproduction. Paramecium occasionally meets others and exchanges genetic material during a kind of primitive sexual reproduction. The membranous skin is joined to form one giant parameter, at this point a small micronuclei that holds all the genetic material switch. When it is divided into four smaller parameters, they now have new DNA combinations.
