What is Phyllostachys?

Phyllostachys is a genus bamboo, which is a rapidly growing evergreen grass. Plants in this group are diverse, with about 200 cultivars and varieties between 75 species. In general, this bamboo genus produces hard -quality wood, which is regularly used to make wooden furniture and outdoor fencing. These plants are originally from Asia, but have spread to other areas of the world. In fact, it is known that many types of phyllostachys aggressively take over their surroundings, grow up and get rid of other plants of the room and sunlight that must prosper.

The appearance of this bamboo changes significantly, but one identifiable element is the groove found in each plant segment. Many species tend to grow straight and stiff with slender green leaves. The maximum height for plants belonging to phyllostachys is anywhere from 25 to 100 feet (7.5 to 30 m), depending on the species. Some species are deliberately stunted for about 1 foot (0.3 m) for the art of bonsai.

pIt is found in Asia-mostly in Central China-Rod Phyllostachys prefers medium to semi-picked climate. Some species are even cold and are able to survive at a freezing temperature. Plant tolerance to less than ideal weather associated with a number of countries with most mild climate has made it possible to prosper phyllostachys in areas from its native habitat. In particular, North America is fighting the invasiveness of these plants.

For example, one species in this genus is referred to as a golden bamboo or phyllostachys aurea and is particularly viral in its dissemination by an extraterrestrial environment, such as the United States. This species is originally originated from parts of southern China and can spread rapidly through open environments. Discourages the growth of other plants due to its susceptibility to pleasure in abundant sunlight and its underground reproductive root structures. The rapid proliferation of this plant sometimes causes it to be considered invasive according to various jurisdictions and the use of chemical herbicides often turns on to beat it back. The removal of this plant is generally difficult due to its susceptibility to leaving the seeds and its above -mentioned reproductive root structures.

Phyllostachys Nigra is another species belonging to this bamboo family. It is also known as a black bamboo because of a stem that changes from green to brown or violet black as it ages. Like many Phyllostachys, nigra rarely flowers. Scientists are not sure that the exact period of flowering, and every 50 years is a popular estimate.
