What is Punta Rock?

Punta Rock is unique in that it represents a musical form, a country (Belize) and a specific ethnic group (Garifuna in Central America) at the same time. At the same time, the rhythm and dance, which is accompanied by universal attraction, has spread not only to Garifuna's diaspora in the US and other countries, but across cultural lines. It is said that they come from a marriage between Arawaks and Caribs on Saint Vincent, then expanded to Costal Central America and Lesser Antilles, where they flickered with Western Africans to the New World as slaves. Garifuna is most associated with Belize, a former British colony. Punta Rock developed during the late 70.
