What is Scoria?
Scoria is a type of volcanic rock that is full of small holes formed by gas bubbles. These bubbles are called vesicles and are captured in the rock because they solidify after the volcanic eruption. Scoria is a class of igneous rocks, but is categorized by a dense nut matrix rather than chemical or mineralogical make -up rocks that may vary. It often has a dark color, with a gray or reddish shade and is usually glassy. The name comes from the name of the waste material with a similar texture, which is the result of melting ore.
During the volcanic eruptions, the molten rock is drained from the ventilation of the volcano and may take the form of lava flows or individual molten mummy masses, called vacunic bombs that are thrown into the air. Lava is often penetrated by gases that are trapped in the lava when it cools into the rock. These gases form bubbles or pockets inside the hardened rock, giving it a porous, sponge aspect, although the rocks are most stupid and compressible as a sponge. Scoria rocks can be foundIn large weights, random pieces or even as crumbly layers of small particles laid on the sides of the Cone Cone.
For this reason, Scoria is sometimes confused with pumice, similar to volcanic rock, which is interwoven with many small holes and pockets of air and gas. The main difference between them is that the pumice generally has a density less than the water density due to the amount of gas trapped and will actually float. Scoria is thicker than water and sinks. Air or gas bubbles in Scoria tend to be larger than bubbles in puma, which tend to have a very large number of smaller pockets. These differences are caused by differences in the density and viscosity of the molten rock that produces them.
While it has little use, Scoria, which is sometimes called cinders, has some value. Sometimes they are sorrowful and used for road bed and for filling and providing traction for bike vehicles under winter conditionsome. SCORIA pieces are also sometimes sold for off -road and gardening purposes or for use for cooking grills. When sold in such a way, it is commonly sold as "Lava rock".
