What is Shore Juniper?
Shore Juniper is a dense, evergreen, spreading bush from Japan and widely available elsewhere as a garden plant. Her Latin name is juniperus Conferese , and this has acquired his English name because it is a very salty and dry-tolerant plant that is able to prosper in the coastline. Shore juniper grows to a height of only about 12 to 24 inches (about 30 to 60 cm), but can be expanded to 6 to 10 feet (1.8 to 3.1 m). It has needles that are half an inch up to 1 inch (1.2 to 2.5 cm), are soft with sharp tips and are greenish blue, with new growth is a lighter green shade.
As well as all juniper, it is a division of plants called conifers, which also include cedar, pine and yew, as well as many other trees and shrubs, all characterized by wooden, conical plants. The cones produced by the juniper coast are round, covered with a wax coating and a very small size, a diameter of only about half an inch (1.2 cm). May vary in bRubs of silver after bluish black and sometimes wrong behind berries or fruit.
As a garden plant, coastal yoles can be grown in containers and rock gardens, where its color and cascade growth causes a distinctive display, but is also awarded as low maintenance, versatile ground cover. It can form roots almost anywhere, its low -growing stems touch favorable soil, and the resulting spread of growth similar mats can help prevent soil erosion, for example on steep slopes, waterfronts or terraces. The plant can also be used to stabilize dunes and other sand terrain on or near the ocean beaches, an environment that is very susceptible to erosion, but often tolerates for many other plants.
This plant can be grown in full sun into a partial shade, but it grows best in full sun and cannot survive temperatures below minus-13 degrees Fahrenheit (minus-25 Celsius). JIt is resistant to drought, but prefers takedze moist conditions and can be grown in almost any soil if this soil is well drained. Shore juniper does not grow from the seeds well and the best way to promote is to make the slices that need to be taken when the plant is sleeping. These cuttings will develop relatively easily and can be planted. There are many different coastal juniper varieties and two popular cultivars are a blue pacific that grows to a height of only about 1 foot (about 30 cm), and the emerald sea that can tolerate colder temperatures than most other varieties of this plant.
