What is silicone tape?

Silicone tape is a remarkable performance of chemical engineering that has resulted in long -term and highly durable protective tape. The silicone tape made of cured silicone rubber usually contains a thin layer of silicone gel to create a separate product that forms a permanent link around everything that is covered. This quality has led to a number of alternative names for silicone tape, including self -governing amalgamation tape, self -slip tapes and silicone gel tape. The tape forms the binding when it is stretched and wrapped around the building, and depending on the specific brand and how it is used, it is insured within a few minutes or a few hours.

Another feature of silicone tape is to include polydimethylsiloxan in a gel that contains zinc oxide. This material is added as an UV inhibitor. This means that the tape is resistant to ultraviolet radiation from natural sunlight, which often contributes to degradation of conventional tape. It is also an abbreviation to other environmental factors, including the effects of ozone. In addition, the silicone tape is designed to withstand moisture, as well as contact with solvents, fuels, acids and even spraying from the soldering iron.

This tape remains flexible also at low temperatures. Even more importantly, some types of silicone tape are heat resistant and burning slowing. This is achieved by formulating the composition of the tape to allow it to be evenly done and distracted by heat, yet it remains non -flammable. This is obviously very desirable in using a silicone tape under conditions where it can get into contact with excessive heat or open flame.

As could be expected, there are plenty of applications for using this tape. For example, adaptation of silicone tapes is used in biomedical and pharmaceutical fields where it performs a number of functions. In the clinical environment it is used for adherence to body equipment such as catheters and PROtetical devices. In addition, because this tape is not affected by moisture and will be adhesive to many different surfaces, it can be reused. In some cases, it can even be cleaned and reused.

Silicone tape is widely used in the aerospace industry and the army, as well as in boats. It is very valuable as an electric tape for a cable bundle and also for weather -resistant, insulated and sealing all types of electrical connections. This tape is also ideal to have an emergency repair, including its use to stop the leakage of pipes, repair the car cooler, o-ring seal, or even serve as a temporary fan belt. The silicone tape comes from an excellent supplement to the set for a medical emergency situation, where it can be used to make a splint or to secure a bandage on the wound.
