Tarot use as a Fortunes narrative tool has a relatively recent invention dating back to the end of the eighteenth century. The best known package is the so-called Rider-Waite deck. The proposals were from Arthur Waite, a member of the ORder of Golden Dawn, in cooperation with Pamela Colman Smith, so the deck is sometimes called Waite-Smith Deck. It was first released by Rider Company V1909.
There are hundreds of different tarot packages now. Palubes that reduce or remove Christian symbolism are increasingly popular and some feminist decks significantly reduce male dominant roLe found in traditional decks. Some of the decks have eliminated the suit system completely and are structured around different themes - for example, animals in an inspired deck.
Use for tarot cards are diverse. Of course, they can be used in a traditional narrative of wealth. However, they can also be used as inspiration cards, confirmation tools, or for building self -knowledge and intuition.
