What is Samba?

Samba is a live dance composed of a combination of other dances with South American rhythms. He was inspired by the African dance of Lund, which resembles the Spanish Fandang. Samba is known for its movements of the knees and hips, as well as rhythmic walking, bouncing the balls and wide open arms. In 1917, Samba first became part of the Rio Carnival.
