What is Timothy Hay?

Timothy Hay is the dried version of Timothy Grass (P. Pratense), which is assumed that it was created on the European continent. The early colonists to the New World brought the seeds of grass by chance and also inspired significant wild grass growth in the US. At the beginning of the 18th century it was noted that the grass was awarded the grazing of animals. The records suggest that Ben Franklin was actually responsible for the name of hay and appreciated his hardness after planting several hundred acres in Vermont. It can be mixed with other components, especially alfalfa and red clover. Some pets, such as rabbits and guinea pigs, can also enjoy it. This is particularly recorded for relatively low protein content, low Mois (which can help keep dried grass in front of rot) and high fiber content. Many animal care experts recommend this due to their seeming ease of the digestive system of various animals and promoting the regularity of the intestines.

Another reason why Timothy Hay can be more convenient than other forms, especially hay -based hay -based forms, such as alfalfa, is due to low calcium content. Some animals, especially rabbits, may be susceptible to bladder stones and urine crystallization, which can lead to premature death or discomfort. Veterinarians often recommend Timothy Hay to avoid these problems.

The

early version of Timothy Hay is best on the east coast, but now there are variants that can be grown across the US, including the "western" Timothy Hay. For allergic patients it is not necessarily amazing news. Many find that they are strongly allergic to Timothy grass pollen and do not particularly apply its cultivation and growth.

This does not mean that Timothy Hay does not have practical and healing properties. Although this may cause the suffering of allergy to sniff and sneeze, it turns out to be a healthy part of feed for many grazing animals. In addition, a drug called Grazax® consists of TIM extractOte's hay and is used to help people build a certain amount of immunity to grass. Grazax® is used orally and some people find an improvement in allergy symptoms due to the use of this drug. Others consider side effects such as itching the mouth as as bad as an allergic reaction, and cease to take the product.
