What is Topiar?

Topiary is the art of ornamental gardening. Topiarists cut, tissues and train plants in all shapes and sizes. Some topiars are as large as an ice cream tree, while others are small as a ivy's heart in a porcelain cup. The interest in changing the shape of plants can be traced at least 2000 years and lives in today's imaginative gardens. When Italy was no longer part of the Roman Empire, the monks continued to cultivate the topiars in the early 1000 years. From there he spread to Britain, France and the whole of Europe and reached height during the Renaissance. Topiars with her formal aesthetist expanded with live mazes and node gardens during the Victorian period. Simple geometric shapes such as cones and cylinders. Juniper and Rosemars create fine topiars because they have small leaves, tight patterns of growth and are evergreen. A large, healthy hedge can be bumped as a fantastic as a unicorn or functional as a fence.

Inner topiars on a small scale have become an alternative for gardeners without acres that are dedicated to trees. First you choose a fast growing, robust, pot with several twigs. Ivy, Pelargonia or Lavender are a great choice. The wire skeleton, called tuteur , puts into the soil and provides support for the desired shape. Long, twining shoots of the plant can be wrapped around wires and secured by a fishing line. Then it needs patience and talent. In order to fill the rest of the mold, the topharist must force the sprouts at certain places by cutting the notches at the right intersection of the stem. The plant reacts by eating a new filming. In combination with the "pinching of the tip" of other promontory to arrest their growth, Topiara becomes full and symmetrical.

Another type of topian includes forms without a container. Puncting chicken wire frames look like baskets. Gardeners stuff the inside of the skeleton with mech sphagnum and puts separate sprouts. Each piece has a small root ball and jEdna long vines, so when they are implanted, they create a three -dimensional hanging statue. These types of forms use a lot of fishing line to properly secure the shoots and must be connected by immersing the entire topiary in the water.
