What is trachycarpus?
Trachycarpus is the name of the family of several different types of palm trees. Rod is a group of different species that share certain identification properties. In the case of trachycarpus, these properties include palms in the shape of a fan, often with a furry trunk and the production of male and female flowers on separate plants. Some of these species are also very tolerant of cold climate, which is rare for the palm. They are small to medium trees and growth in the wild is thin. Many other palms are in fact grown before it occurs naturally. In cultivation, they are relatively easy to grow because they can withstand a wider range of temperatures than many other types of palms.
within Trachycarpus (T.) is eight different types of palm: T. Fortunei, T.Takil, T. Wagnerianus, T. Nanus, T. Oreophilus, T. Princess, T. Martianus and T. Latisektus. Each species is unique, but they share some common features. All are in the shape of a fan, with palm leaves composed of many leaflets growing from the central baseand emerging in a rounded semicircular shape. The foundations of the leaves are produced by fibers that give the trunk a distinctive, hairy look.
6 This means that they are not able to pollinate and produce the seeds themselves, so they have to cultivate them or pollinate insects. Many species produce kidney -shaped seeds and several of them produce oval, grooved seeds. Germination takes about eight to 12 weeks and the initial growth is very slow, although it increases when the plants ripen. There are several diverse uses for Trachycarpus Palms. In many places, the fibers produced by leaf bases are used to produce cornea, brushes, brooms and strong harsh ropes of the tree because of this use is a "cannabis palm". Suddenly the fibers were even used to create a simple type of rain cape, but it was very unpleasant and was heavy when it was wet. Seeds are used for medicinal reasons and saidThey have anticancerous features. Several species, especially trachycarpus fortunei, are grown for use in landscaping and gardens due to their ability to tolerate low temperatures.
