Which Olympic sporting event requires the most physical abilities?

It would be impossible to name one particular Olympic sporting event that requires the most physical abilities from its participants, but there are several candidates. Decathlon, Heptathlon, weightlifting and water polo are very demanding events. Every Olympic sporting event requires a certain number of natural abilities and physical skills from competitors, although many athletes specializing in one type of event tend to train for specific requirements of this event. For example, cyclists develop strong leg muscles and cardiovascular endurance, but may not have a significant power of the upper body.

If the criteria for the most demanding Olympic sporting event were overall physical ability, then the male tenson or female heptathlon certainly qualified. Competitors in these events must learn the right techniques for a number of events on the track and terrain, although their specific body type is not suitable for specialization in any of them. Some might argue that the form follows when it comes to sport, so athletes with the most perfectly developed bodies must need them to perform their actions well.
