What is a Bluetooth PC card?

Bluetooth® is a wireless technology that combines personal electronics together and creates a network of personal area (PAN). The big advantage of Bluetooth® compared to other wireless technologies is that it is very easy to add a device to a pan with just a few clicks, making them interactive. Interactive devices can confuse files, photos or music, synchronize data or send printing tasks to Bluetooth® printers. If your mobile computer does not have a built -in Bluetooth modem, PC Bluetooth® PC may fit into your account. Most mobile computers are equipped with an expansion slot, formerly known as the PCMCIA card slot or simply a PC card slot. Specifications and form factor have developed over the years with the name, with the latest iteration is the ExpressCard® slot. Products made to use these slots are referred to as PC cards, but when buying a PC card, it is important to make sure it is compatible with the specific slot of your notebook.

Bluetooth® PC card allows you to create a pan between your mobile computer and office device, mobile phone, personal digital assistant (PDA) or digital player. The only prerequisite is that these devices also have Bluetooth® or Bluetooth® adapters installed. You can use a pan wirelessly to send printing tasks from a notebook to the printer, synchronize your calendar and PDA, transfer photos from a mobile phone to a laptop, or hand over music files from hard drive to digital player and name only a few examples.

There are two main classes or Bluetooth® standards that are commonly used - the relative difference is how far every broadcast and how much energy it uses. Since Bluetooth has been designed for battery -controlled devices such as mobile phones, class 2 is the most ubiquitous standard with a modest but adequate rangeUp to About 33 feet (10 m) and low energy consumption. However, the Bluetooth® PC card is also available as a class 1 product, which extends this range to about 328 feet (100 m), because energy consumption is not a problem in this application.

If a slot for a PC or Slot ExpressCard® slot is occupied, or if your machine has not been equipped with an expansion slot, you can opt for USB Bluetooth® instead. This product will provide the same functionality, although some people consider it slightly less comfortable because the modem will stand out from the machine. The modems of both types are relatively cheap, although Bluetooth® PC form factor can be more expensive than USB models and class 1 modems will be more expensive than class 2 modems.
