What is a Graphics Adapter?
Video graphics adapter was introduced by IBM in 1987. It uses analog signal output to make colors more colorful. VGA is further enhanced on the EGA standard. The standard VGA graphics card resolution is 640 × 480/16 colors. Due to the use of an 18-bit color fader, the 16 colors are 16 of 218 = 256 K. The resolution of the enhanced VGA card can reach 800 × 600, 960 × 720, or even 1024 × 768/256 colors (256K choose 256 types).
