What Is a GSM Network?

The GSM network is the first cellular system in the world to specify digital modulation, network layer structure and services. GSM was developed to address the fragmented state of Europe's first generation of cellular systems. Before GSM, European countries adopted different cellular standards throughout the European continent, and for users, it was not possible to use a standard mobile station to communicate throughout Europe. In addition, due to the weakness of the analog network, its capacity is also limited. [1]
