What is a programmable digital thermostat?
The programmable digital thermostat is a device that controls the air conditioning control system. The programmable digital thermostat is more accurate, more efficient and flexible than an analog thermostat. Digital thermostats continue to grow in popularity because more consumers become ecologically and energy conscious.
both analog and digital thermostats perform the same basic function. Both types of thermostats provide an interface to turn on or off the air conditioning control systems. They also allow the user to determine the general temperature range where the heating or cooling system turns on or off. The thermostat eliminates the need to manually turn on and off the air conditioning system as needed and can maintain a permanently comfortable internal environment.
The main difference between the analogue thermostat and the digital programmable thermostat is that digital technologies increase the level of functionality above the analogue thermostat. According to some estimates, additional function and accuracy DIgital thermostat helps reduce cooling and heating costs by up to 30 percent compared to the analog model.
Unlike the analogue thermostat, which is only able to determine the general temperature range for the air conditioning control system, provides a programmable digital thermostat ability to set the system to a specific temperature. The programmable digital thermostat also allows users to set specific initial times and stops for the air conditioning control system. With this type of thermostat, users can program a thermostat to maintain the temperature of their home warmer morning when they wake up, cooler during the day when no one is at home and again a warmer evening when they return home.
There are three main types of digital programmable thermostats. The first type is known as a seven -day thermostat and offers the greatest flexibility. Seven -day thermostat allow the user to programand stop times with a specific temperature setting for each day of the week.
The second main type of digital programmable thermostat is the model of the mundane and weekend model, which is also known as five and two models. With this type of thermostat, the user is able to create one programming schedule for five weekdays and one schedule for two weekend days. The third type of digital thermostat is the model five/one/one that allows the user to set one program for five working days, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.
The programmable digital thermostat is generally simple to install and can be installed as a project "Do-IT YOURSELF". Installation will often require only screwdriver, pencil, drill and new thermostat. Exceptions are programmable digital thermostats for heat pump systems. Heat pumps require a different type of thermostat than other HVAC systems and should only be installed by a qualified supplier.
