What is the SCART socket?

SCART Socket is a female part of the standardized analog system of sound visual connection used primarily in Europe. Since 1980, they have been compulsory for equipment such as TVs, especially in their country of origin in France. The connectors are rectangular, 21-wheel stoppers and drawers with sloping profile at one end to make it easier to insert. The connectors have enabled standardized devices such as TVs, VideoRers and Pay-TV decoders at a time when the incompatibility of the connection was promoted. SCART connectors have largely been replaced by modern HDMI digital devices on new devices, although they are still common in older units.

Before 1977, European users of sound visual (AV) devices (AV) have often occurred problems with compatibility of connection between different system components. AV equipment from various origins could represent connectors in the style of DIN-, RCA- or BNC, creating a constant need for a number of adapters for setting JAkéhocoli system. In attempt to enforce the standard SCART (Syndicat des Constructeurs d'Appareils RadioRecteurs et Téleléeures) was introduced in France in 1977. In 1980, all locally sold TV files were equipped with a SCART socket for signal inputs.

SCART Socket is a rectangular connector with an incisive, angular profile on one short side that acts as a key to ensure the right plug insertion. The connectors are the design of 21 pins with 2 distributed rows of 10 flat vertically oriented pins. 21 st "PIN" is a common ground connection consisting of a housing of a metal plug. SCART connectors allow two-way stereo sound and S-Video, composite and RGB video signal transmission. TV equipped with WPS connection fromSCART as SCART can also signal from sleep or switch to video recording mode using SCART.

The arrival of modern digital signal protocols, such as HDMI, began to push SCART connection into obsolescence. However, many older appliances still contain the connection of SCART socket, especially in Europe. These connections are still well supported by most sound/visual equipment manufacturers supplying SCART adapters of their products. SCART PIN-OUT Schemes are also easily available online or via equipment suppliers. Although these connectors are dated to HDMI standards, they remain an efficient and convenient connection method of AV devices with many useful functions.
