What is the HDMI® switch?

The HDMI® Switch

high -resolution (HDMI® switch) allows the user to select more entertainment devices to provide the best quality and resolution of the image. Devices that can be connected to the HDMI® switch are gaming stations, DVD players/ recorders (HD or Blu-ray), included boxes, HDTV and monitors. Sources must be compatible with HDMI®.

There are different models of HDMI® switches. The simplest and most basic model is 2x1 HDMI®, which means there are two inputs and one output. The user is able to switch between two different HDMI® sources. For example, the user will be able to have a HD DVD player and a game station connected to the switch. The 2x1 HDMI® switch is not recommended because the consumer will not have room for future expansion. The 4x1 HDMI® switch allows up to four sources that are recommended. The 5x1 switch is also available for final expandability. The HDMI® external switch is beneficial to the proyone, which has a HD monitor and has less than the required amount of system inputs.

There are many features that the consumer should look for when HDMI® switch. The consumer should consider expanding. For future extensibility, it is recommended to switch the HDMI® 5-pass, while the 2-porty switch will not be HDMI®. It is also important that the HDMI® switch has a high digital content (HDCP) with high bandwidth. HDCP must transmit data between the source and the monitor.

Other HDMI® functions that should not be overlooked is that it is backward or is able to replace the digital visual interface (DVI). This means that the user will have to choose the right cables, either HDMI® or HDMI® to DVI to adapt to the system. The switch should also include remote control to select the desired channel. Reserved force adapter is necessary in HDMI® switch because some HDMI® switches are powered directly from HDMI® cable that can overload HDMI sources®. The HDMI® cable function is to power the extended display identification data (EDID), which communicates the monitor display capabilities to the computer.

HDTV technology is constantly becoming more advanced. HDMI® switches may therefore become absolute in the future because more TVs include HDMI® inputs.
