What is OLED TV?
OLED (Organic Light-Emitation LED) TV is a TV set based on a brand new display technology. Its many advantages include increased clarity and durability over other types of television displays that are currently on the market such as plasma and LCD. OLED TV was first available for the purchase of a mass market in 2008 and is expected to win the market share well for future years.
There are many advantages for OLED television. They have a very high contrast ratio, up to 1 million to one. This produces very lively, natural colors. Also because there is no need for no backlight, the set is very energy efficient, which requires about 40 percent of the strength of the plasma set. In addition, it has higher renewal rates than LCD TV, which means that movement blur is not a problem.
In some respects, OLED TV can combine the best of two main TV technologies with a flat -screen TV currently on the market. Has a live picture of LCD with natural collory and recoveryplasma rates. However, OLED TVs that come out are even more thin and lighter than anything on the market.
One of the limiting factors of OLED TV is its size. While they are beginning to produce larger sizes, most on the market do not exceed 12 inches (30 cm). Although there were some TV OLED models that were made in larger sizes, most of them are prototypes that have been seen mainly at Electronics Convention.
Another limiting factor in OLED TV technology is the price of these models currently on the market. Even a 12 -inch (30 cm) model still costs almost $ 2,000 (USD). This price is expected to decrease rapidly as soon as technology becomes more frequent. As with any technology emerging, the most expensive models are those that hit the market for the first time.
Some electronics enthusiasts created a very big promise regarding OLED TV technology. For example, some predict that hardware will be so thin and flexible that the entire television file can be rolled and transported to another location. Although it has not yet been implemented, the lack of backlighting means that flexible materials can be used on OLED television. But television is extremely thin. Some are only 1.1 inches (3 mm) thin.
