What is DisplayPort?

DisplayPort is the latest digital video interface from the VIDEO Electronics Standards Association (VESA). DisplayPort is designed to serve as an interface for cathode Ray (CRT) monitors, flat panel displays, TV screens, screen screens, home entertainment and video ports in general. Vesa's vision is to simplify and standardize video connections and create different existing Legacy Technologies interface technologies. This would include video graphics field (VGA), digital video interface (DVI), high -resolution multimedia interface (HDMI), unified display interface (UDI) and composed/component video.

DisplayPort provides four lanes of data traffic for the total bandwidth of up to 10.8 gigites per second. A separate two -way channel processes the instructions for controlling the device. Vesa reports that the open standard provides enriched colors, higher resolution and better refresh rates than existing technologies. Also includes sound data such as HDMI, eliminUJEPEPEMPLATION RCA audio cables. DisplayPort offers a smaller, more refined interface than HDMI, creating better suitable for laptops and smaller digital devices.

At the time of production, an optional copyright module can be connected to the DisplayPort standard. DisplayPort (DPCP), licensed independently from Philips, uses advanced encryption, supplemented by a session key to complete verification of advanced encryption. The module allegedly refuses to display "unauthorized content", acts as an embedded hardware cop. The idea of allowing the media to control access to your own hardware leaves some critics and consumers cautious.

Some argue that technology against piracy has the reputation of unpleasant honest users, while they do little frustration of abuse, because they would seem that the annual losses caused by the piracy suggest. If the DisplayPort module incorrectly prevents media playback, for exampleSwitching operating systems, such as changes in personal computers or engage in some other innocent circumstances, consumers could relieve the device with a new DisplayPort standard.
