What is HDBaset?

HDBASET ™ is a technology that provides high -resolution video, sound, Ethernet network, control signals and power in one 5E category or 6 computer network categories. This technology should be used with consumer electronics and home theater equipment and has several advantages that are not offered by other types of connections. The initial version of the specification was announced in June 2010 and uses the Multimedia interface signals (HDMI) with high resolution on the network cable. The group of electronic companies and content providers later joined Valens to create a HDBaseT Alliance group that promotes and standardizes technology. Initial specifications include support for uncompressed high-resolution video in 1080p format, as well as 3-D TV and Ultra-High Resolution 2K and 4K formats. Sound, 100 megabit network connection, control signals and 100 watts of energy are also supported. Standard can be upgraded to add support for faster network and other new FUNKCE.

Unlike other HDBaset ™ audiovisual connectors, it will reiterate existing technology: category 5E or category 6 and registered Jack-45 (RJ-45) connectors commonly used in computer networks. Cable lengths up to 328 feet (100 m) are supported and the device can be “Daisy chain” from one to another or connected via a hub or switch. However, the standard hubs and Ethernet switches do not recognize videonals because the modulation system is used.

HDBaset ™ is primarily focused on consumer electronics devices such as Blu-Ray® and TV players, but the use of network cables offers benefits that other home cinema connections cannot coincide. Many HDMNA cables can carry only a few feet without extension, while HDBaset ™ can be over 300 feet. One device like a digital video recorder (DVR)can also send a signal to multiple displays. 100 Watts Power sent via the network cable are sufficient to power flat screens up to 40 inches, which could mean that only one connection would need for power and video signals.

The first revision of HDBaset ™ uses HDMI signals as the basis for its video output. This means that almost all the features found in version 1.4 Standard HDMI video, including the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) and the high width of digital content (HDCP), are present in HDBaset ™. Signals from other technologies, such as a universal serial bus (USB), can also be encoded and sent via the network.
