What is the Difference between Barcode and RFDI?

Radio frequency technology (RFID) is similar to both traditional barcodes. The goal is to quickly and accurately identify and track a target object.

Radio frequency technology (RFID) and tradition
Radio frequency technology and barcode are two different technologies. They have different application scopes and sometimes overlap. The biggest difference between the two is that the barcode is "visual technology". The scanner works under the guidance of a person and can only receive barcodes within its field of view. In contrast, RFID does not require the target to be seen, and can be read as long as it is within the receiver's range. The barcode itself has other disadvantages. If the label is scratched, contaminated, or peeled off, the scanner cannot recognize the target. The bar code can only identify the producer and the product, but not the specific product. The bar code affixed to the same product package is the same, and it cannot identify which products have expired. The RFID tag's chip memory has detailed information about the product: the product name, origin, material, batch, production date, and product validity information.
The advantages of radio frequency technology over barcodes are obvious:
· No light source is required, and data can even be read through external materials:
· Long service life, can work in harsh environment;
Can be easily embedded or attached to products of different shapes and types;
Read longer distances:
Can write and access data, write time is less than printing barcode:
· The content of the label can be changed dynamically;
Ability to process multiple tags simultaneously;
· The data access of the tag is protected by password, which has higher security;
· It can track and locate the objects attached to RFID tags.
Market Tech analysts pointed out that radio frequency (RFID) technology can save manpower and automatically control inventory, but also improve product outages and product loss caused by theft or disruption of the supply chain. It is estimated that Walmart can save annually $ 8.35 billion.
