What is Transparency Paper?

Transparent paper is a synthetic paper that can be made transparent by adding acrylic resin to the pulp during papermaking. The manufacturing method of this transparent paper is simpler than before, and it is expected to be applied in the fields of liquid crystal display screens, lighting appliances and solar cells.

Cellulose Nanofiber is used as a raw material for transparent paper. The fiber fineness is only 20,000 times that of hair. Because it is too thin, it has been difficult to process it into flakes. [1]
There are many uses for clear paper. If the glass substrates used in current LCD displays are heavy and easily damaged, researchers have been looking for alternative materials. Researchers believe that the transparent paper developed this time is not only lighter but also easier to fold. If a conductive substance is coated on it, it is expected to be used to make liquid crystal displays and lighting materials. [2]
Hiroyuki Yano and others at Kyoto University in Japan reported that they had achieved this result in collaboration with researchers at the Japan Paper Institute. The researchers treated the pulp with chemicals to make the pulp difficult to absorb water, and then made it into a thin film, immersed in a transparent acrylic resin, and then used ultraviolet to harden and combine the pulp and acrylic resin. Synthetic paper with a luminosity of about 80% to 85%. [3]
