Thomas Hunt Morgan (1866-1945) was an American evolutionary biologist, geneticist, and embryologist. He discovered the genetic mechanism of chromosomes and established the theory of chromosomal genetics. He is the founder of modern experimental biology. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discovering the role of chromosomes in heredity in 1933.
