Chen Wengui (1902.8.1-1974.1.1), a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a microbiologist, was born in Yongchuan, Sichuan on August 1, 1902.

In 1917, he entered Jiangjin County; in the Republic of China in 11 years, he went to the Yali University of Hunan Province; (in the Xiangya Medical College) in the Republic of China in 12 years, he studied at the Changsha Xiang Medical College (Xiangya Medical College).
In late May 1925, British and Japanese imperialists slaughtered workers and students in Shanghai and Qingdao, creating the May 30 tragedy and the Qingdao tragedy. Demonstrations and strikes against the school broke out at Xiangya Medical College. Such activities led to Xiangya Medical College at that time. Forced to suspend, Chen Wengui and his brother Chen Wenjing participated in the revolutionary activities of the students in the school. The school was blacklisted and could not be transferred to other medical schools after the Xiangya Medical College was forced to suspend.
In 1926, the Northern Expedition began. Ye Ting led the independent regiment as a pioneer. The regiment was expanded into two divisions. Chen Wengui and his brother Chen Wenjing became the regiment medical team of the 24th Division. The then division chief was Ye Ting.
In the 1927 Nanchang Uprising in August 1st, Ye Ting led the army to participate. Chen Wengui and his brother Chen Wenjing served as military medics in the army.

From 18 to 23 of the Republic of China, Chen Wengui served as assistant professor of pathology at Peking Union Medical College. He authored five papers including "Bacterial Decomposition of Cholera Bacteria" and "Rough Forms of Cholera Bacteria in Recovery Patients". In the spring of the 25th year of the Republic of China, Chen Wengui was hired by the League of Nations as a public health inspector of the World Health Organization to conduct plague control research at the Harvard Gold Institute in Mumbai, India, and wrote a report on visiting India to prevent plague.
In February 1950, Chen Wengui served as temporary health adviser to Qian Xinzhong, Minister of Health of the Southwest Military and Political Committee. In July, he served as Deputy Minister of Health of the Southwest Military and Political Committee and Chairman of the Southwest Association of the Chinese Medical Association.
In 1952. The United States fought a large-scale bacterial war in North Korea. The Central Ministry of Health sent Chen Wengui to North Korea as a consultant to the Chinese People's Volunteer Army to collect insect specimens dropped by the U.S. military to expose the crimes of the U.S. invaders. In December, Chen Wengui attended the World Peace Conference in Vienna. Exposing the crime of using bacterial weapons by the US military at the meeting won the support and sympathy of the peace-loving people in the world for the people of China and North Korea. The Chinese government issued him a certificate of merit, and the Korean People's Government awarded Chen Wengui the Second National Flag Medal. After returning to China, Chen Wengui was also received and banqueted by Chairman Mao Zedong.
He died on June 15, 1974, at the age of 72. In the Cultural Revolution, Chen Wengui was listed as a bourgeois reactionary academic authority. At this time, he was suffering from high blood pressure, tuberculosis, and was bedridden.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as Deputy Minister of Health of the Southwest Military and Political Committee, Director of the Epidemic Prevention Department of the Central Ministry of Health, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Professor and Deputy Dean of Sichuan Medical College. He has been engaged in medical microbiology research and epidemic prevention throughout his life.
After liberation, Chen Wengui was named a first-level professor and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Biogeology Department. He also served as a member of the first CPPCC and a representative of the first, second, and third National People's Congress.
