Zhang Xi has long been engaged in the research on the construction, regulation and function of supramolecular systems, and is committed to the development of molecular engineering of supramolecular systems. His main academic achievements include: proposed a new concept of super amphiphilic molecules, and established a new method for controllable supramolecular polymerization. Developed and established some interfacial supermolecular assembly methods, and prepared a series of ordered functional films. In addition, he served as deputy editor of the American Chemical Society's "Langmuir" magazine and organized a number of Sino-American academic seminars, which also made important contributions to promoting chemical exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States [32] .
