Wu Yan Introduction

Wu Yan, born in 1941, is from Taiyuan, Shanxi. Member of the Communist Party of China, national first-level performer, member of the Chinese Musicians Association; director of the Chinese Music Association Wind Music Society; member of the Shanxi Musicians Association; member of the Shanxi Calligraphers Association; president of the Shanxi Flute Society.

He was admitted to the Shanxi Provincial Song and Dance Troupe (Institute) student team in high school in 1959. He graduated from the Shanxi Provincial Song and Dance Theatre Orchestra in 1962, and was converted into a symphony orchestra in 1990. He was once the deputy head and chief flute of the orchestra. In 1972, he studied flute with the former chief flute of the Central Orchestra and Mr. Li Xuequan, a famous flute educator in China. After more than 30 years of studying and following, Mr. Li Xuequan's strict requirements have greatly improved his flute playing and teaching concepts. For more than forty years, he has worked with Li Delun, Han Zhongjie, Huang Feili, Yan Liangyi, Xu Xin, Wang Junqi, Zhang Wenxiu, Li Bingheng, Li Chongwang, Wang Junshi, Hao Zonggang, Cao Ding, Yang Jianzhong, Wang Xiaogang, Zhang Zilong, Yi Juanzi, and Sheng China, Han Chengyi Conductor, composer, performer cooperate. In 1985, in order to meet the needs of performance and teaching, he edited a book "Flute and Performance" (prefaced by Mr. Li Xuequan, published by Beiyue Literature and Art Publishing House in 2000) and "Flute Teaching and Performance Selection", a total of 4 episodes. He has been employed as an external flute teacher by the Music Department of Shanxi University, the Department of Music of Taiyuan Teachers College, the Provincial and Municipal College of Art (School), and the Shanxi Vocational Opera College. In 1994, he participated in the National "Qingxi Cup" Youth Wind Competition and won the "Excellent Counselor Award". In 1995, he participated in the master class of French flute master Alain Marion held at the Central Conservatory of Music. In 2000, he was employed as a consultant for the research and development of flute by Beijing Wind Instrument Factory and Hebei North Musical Instrument Co., Ltd. of China Light Industry Culture & Sports Import & Export Corporation. In June 2006, a solo concert of Wu Yan's flute was successfully held in the Music Hall of Shanxi University.
