What Is an Exam Deferral?

The IQS exam, the International Qualifying Scheme, is one of the necessary ways to obtain the membership of the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries (HKICS) and the Association of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA). HKICS membership "Chartered Secretary" is one of the qualified qualifications required to be a company secretary under the Hong Kong Listing Rules (Main Board Listing Rule 3.28 and GEM Listing Rule 5.14).

The IQS test is divided into two parts with a total of eight courses. The subjects are as follows [1]
1). Registered Student (Student)
Registration as a HKICS student is a prerequisite for taking the IQS exam.
2) .Graduate
Registered students who have completed the IQS exam will automatically become graduates, gaining access to the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) and
Applicants need to have one of the following qualifications:
A. Bachelor's degree or higher from a nationally recognized university, or
B. Professional qualification certificates recognized by the Association (such as: ACCA, CICPA, AICPA, CFA, CIMA, etc.)
The application for registration must provide the following information and fees:
1). Completed application form for registered students
2). Copy of ID
3). Notarized copies of university degree or above, transcripts, professional qualification certificates and transcripts, or the original certificates submitted for inspection by the staff of the Association
4). 1 recent ID photo
5). Registration fee
6). Business card (if any)
Applicants can submit application materials at any time, but if they plan to take the exam as soon as possible after registration, they must submit the application materials as follows:
* To take the June exam, you must submit application materials on or before January 31
* To take the December exam, you must submit application materials on or before July 31
IQS exams are held each June and the first week of December . China's test centers are located in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai . The test registration months are March (June test) and September (December test) . The test registration form can be downloaded from the guild website during the test registration period or obtained from the guild. Participants must complete all courses within six years, with an unlimited number of subjects per exam.
Applicants must choose to apply for a subject exemption when completing the student registration form. The Association Exemption Audit Committee is responsible for evaluating the student's exemption application and has the right to approve the exemption.
